What a brilliant evening we had at the Christmas carols on the 24th Dec. 2014, an amazing 232 euros was raised to help with the continued care of our rescued animals - Thank you so much Terry and Jonathan proprietors of the La Quinta Bella Residential and Camping site in Los Arejos, Aguilas, plus to all those who attended and contributed!
What a fantastic day we had on the Sponsored cycle ride and Dog walk yesterday, despite the forecast being possible storms, it managed to stay dry with many people arriving to walk dogs and riders taking to their bikes for the 50km ride. It turned out to be a very successful day with many people enjoying the BBQ. Plus we again managed to raise in excess of 600€ - Brilliant well done everybody!

What a brilliant day we had on our Christmas stall at San Juan de Los Tererros yesterday! Thank you to everyone who helped make it so successful, it was a lovely atmosphere and by far the busiest stall at the market. The final figure brings the total funds raised on the day to 680.00€

Another fabulous afternoon for our Petanca championship, we raised over 450.00 euros which is fabulous, thanks go to all those who organised the event and those who attended to make up all 18 teams, below are our Championship winners and the "Runner up" team!

San Animal Raft Race - June 15th 2014
San Animal held it's first Raft Race this year, 14 rafts entered the race including local schools and what a special day it was, the event was attended by 100's of people and a huge amount of fun was had by all, the course was quite arduous due to a windy day but all entrants said this made it more fun. We would like to thank the Ayuntamiento de Pulpi for all there help in arranging support from the Police, the Protección Civil, the Red Cross and of course for supplying and manning the music for the day. We raised a total of 1,100 euros on the day thanks to the many raft sponsorships that were raised.

Dog Walk 27th April 2014
THE TENERIFE RIDGE SPONSORED WALK
SATURDAY 16th NOVEMBER 2013 FROM THE RAMBLA IN LOS LOBOS AT 10.0am.
San Animal Santuario, a registered charity dedicated to rescuing and re-homing abandoned dogs and cats around Aguilas, Huercal Overa, Pulpi and Terreros invites you to assist in sustaining its work by participating in a sponsored walk.
By popular demand we have made the Sponsored Walk on 16th November somewhat less arduous. The route will now start and finish at the rambla in Los Lobos village and take around 2.5 - 3 hours. It is manageable by an averagely fit person and there will be ample breaks to take in the views and rest one’s weary limbs.
Food and drink will be available at the shelter after the walk. Non-walkers may join us at the shelter for a 5 euro meal at 1.30pm.
If anyone is unsure where the start point is for the walk one of us will meet you at the TM development (Mar de Pulpi) car park at 10.0am ready to get to Los Lobos for a 10.30 start.
We seek about 30 walkers, each with a minimum of 20 euros sponsorship with money collected and paid in to San Animal Santuario by 2nd December. For further information and a sponsorship form contact any of the following:

Spain’s Got Talent 26th May 2012
This Charity event held on Saturday 26th May 2012 was the third organised by
Anne and Dennis Blandford in their garden situated near Lorca in Spain.
Their chosen charity for this year was us - San Animal Santuario, a registered charity organisation tirelessly working to help and re-home the abandoned and mis-treated cats and dogs in Aguilas, Lorca, San Juan de los Terreros, Pulpi and surrounding areas of south-east Spain.
The show is loosely based on the successful Britain’s Got Talent show on UK television. Twelve acts in total took part competing for the SGT winning trophy. The audience voted the best act of this year’s Spain’s Got Talent were the Merry Murderesses of Terreros with their very funny rendition of “he had it coming” from Chicago along with “Judge Taylor” the winning trophies were presented by Jackie Bragg of Costa Almeria News.
This year’s function was attended by more than 180 guests, including 40 volunteers and helpers, the Press and our Vets. The evening was a huge success with €4,210 being presented by Francesca Cook of Mojacar Area Cancer Support (MACS) to Mandy Marshall the Treasurer of San Animal. The evening concluded with a Disco!
As mentioned this is Anne and Dennis’s third year organising this competition, previous years charities were MACS and Help the Heroes, in which Anne & Dennis have raised a few euros short of 15,000, therefore from all of those charities we would like to say a huge thank you to them both.

Petanque Championship 11th April 2012
On Wednesday April 11, a local group called the ‘Evolutionists’, held a charity Petanque championship at Annie’s bistro in San Juan de Los Terreros.
A total of 24 teams entered and the money raised was donated to the San Animal feral cat sterilisation programme being run with permission from the San Juan/Pulpi town hall. So far, this spring (breeding season), to date (May 2012) nineteen cats have been sterilised, in order to help stop more stray kittens being born. In total €675 was raised including a €300 donation from Caixa bank in Calle Aire in Aguilas.
It was a fun afternoon with all teams playing three matches each, congratulations to the winning team "De Musketiers".
This Championship will be held twice yearly with the winning team receiving the San Animal Champions cup and being proud owners for six months of the year, each member of the team won an individual miniature cup to keep and a bottle of wine. These were kindly donated by Richard Ward of the Evolutionists and Danny of Annie’s Bistro.

San Juan de Los Terreros Weekend 31st March and 1st April 2012
On 31st March and 1st April a San Animal volunteer Mrs Doris Heinrich organised a huge event to raise funds for our dogs and cats. It commenced on the Saturday evening of the 31st March by her selling tickets for a set meal available in five restaurants within San Juan de los Terreros, those participating were Bar Restaurante La Venta, Meson Pepper, Mi Cortijo, Mar y Luna and L`Escala. a total of 153 meals were served and we were donated €3 for every meal sold, along with a raffle, this made a total of €587
€763 was raised by a charity football match, tombola, bric-a-brac market, a cake stall and a dog obedience display on Sunday 1st April.
The dog obedience display started later than scheduled because one dog owner’s car broke down. So, when the eleven dogs and their handlers began the display, organised by Antoinette of the Animal Hotel, Aguilas, all the seats were full, and many more people stood, or sat on the ground to watch.
The participants were all rescued dogs, some of which still need to be homed. Antionette said that all dogs, pedigrees or strays can be educated and trained and should be given the chance to live good, happy lives. She said that puppy-training should start at three months old, not later, when bad habits may have already formed. During her bilingual presentation, Antoinette told onlookers that the objective of her dog-training, which she offers in five different languages, is to get a sociable dog, and that rewards are very important.
We would like to thank everyone involved in making the animal charity weekend such a big success.
Also thank you to Pulpi town hall who had been very cooperative in giving permission for the event which was held alongside the town’s regular Sunday market.
A total of €1350 was raised - well done everybody!
Chinese New Year 21st January 2012
We had a wonderful evening with San Animal friends, Volunteers and Foster Carers in the Restaurante Los Geraneos, Camping Aguilas, our theme was to celebrate the Chinese New Year with the incoming of the Dragon, the 150 guests had a set meal Chinese style and were treated to being given Chinese Pockets, Lanterns, and the March of the Dragon.
The amazing sum of €863.00 was raised by all - A HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL OUR SUPPORTERS
Also thanks to all our volunteers for their hard work on the table and wall decorations, plus Traudl and her team for making and performing the dragon!
Lorca Dog Show - October 2011
At the beginning of October we held a stand at the Lorca Dog show, this was the first time we had attended, we met many of our previously unseen supporters and managed to spread the word on what San Animal are trying to achieve to help the abandoned animals. We also used this opportunity to launch our new Membership campaign and our Fund Raising Donation leaflet whereby those wishing to, can donate directly each month through their bank account.
Over the course of a few weeks some of the dogs in our care were put through their paces with training and patience to give a display in one of the many show rings, below are some of these wonderful dogs achieving this to a very high standard, bearing in mind none of them had had very much human contact let alone training!
We would like to say a Big Thank You to Antoinette from the Animal Hotel Aguilas and all the children who took part.
Our First Anniversary Celebration
San Animal held an event on 16th July to celebrate our First Anniversary! This was a wonderful occasion, which brought together many local supporters representing five nationalities (at least!), who all have a common aim: to help abandoned and abused cats and dogs.
The meal was held outdoors at Restaurante San Felipe (Aguilas) in their walled garden patio area. It was followed by some amazing flamenco and classical guitar playing by the very talented Pascual Reverte and his father Antonio.
There was a real buzz to the evening that was heightened when two German members, Traudl and Michael Brückner, made a surprise presentation to Leah Huckin (President) and Mandy Marshall (Treasurer): a “birthday present” to San Animal of €464! This had been collected by Traudl and Michael from German supporters both here and in Germany. What a delightful surprise!
During the evening, a raffle was also held for great prizes which had been donated by businesses and individual supporters. As a result of the anniversary event, a total of €1,018 was raised to help San Animal continue its fantastic work in its second year.A huge "Thank You" to all those who helped to make the evening such a success
